Television scripts

Over a span of fourteen years I wrote dozens of This Is Your Life scripts as a member of first Eamonn Andrews' and then Michael Aspel's television teams. Subjects for whom I wrote the scripts, with the support of one of the best research squads in the business, included:

I scripted and co-produced Over the Moon, Brian (a TV feature on Voice of Football commentator Brian Moore for ITV), and Brian Moore and I devised The Games of 48 for ITV, a nostalgic look back at the London Olympics.

In partnership with director Brian Klein, I co-produced 63 Stand and Deliver shows for SkyTV, featuring a procession of stand-up comedians and introduced by Mike Reid from my links. Featured comics included Bernard Manning, Jim Bowen, Norman Collier, Ted Rogers, Cannon & Ball, Stan Boardman, Frank Carson, Roger DeCourcey, George Roper, Johnny Casson, Duncan Norvelle, Billy Pearce, Jimmy Jones.

In 1984 ITV screened a seven-part Who's the Greatest? sports series, which I devised and scripted. Brian Moore was the Judge, and the series, produced by John D. Taylor, featured George Best v Kevin Keegan (with Michael Parkinson and Tom O'Connor putting the arguments to a jury) ... Muhammad Ali v Rocky Marciano (Dennis Waterman and Eamonn Andrews) ... Roger Bannister v Sebastian Coe (Colin Welland and Jeffrey Archer) ... Joe Davis v Steve Davis (Bernie Winters and Lennie Bennett) ... Jimmy Greaves v Ian Rush (Ted Rogers and Stan Boardman) ... Ian Botham v Garfield Sobers (Willie Rushton and David Frost) ... John McEnroe v Rod Laver (Gloria Hunniford and Pete Murray).
