THE JIMMY GREAVES PARTNERSHIP
I ghosted my first book in 1978 in collaboration with Jimmy Greaves, the greatest of all British football goalscorers who was just beginning to win a battle with the bottle. The book was called This One's On Me and became a best seller. Jimmy and I have been partners on the following books:
Autobiographical: This One's On Me and It's A Funny Old Life. This One's On Me was serialised in the Daily Star and helped launch the paper in its first week of publication in 1979. It's A Funny OId Life was published in 1988. I also worked with Jimmy and Reg Gutteridge on his 1971 retirement autobiography: Let's Be Honest Novels: The Final, The Ball Game, The Boss and The Second Half. The Final was serialised in The Sun. Maurice Gran and Laurence Marks, master comedy scriptwriters, bought the TV rights to The Boss The Book of Football Lists, including lists from 100 top footballers and celebrities. Serialised: News of the World The Sixties Revisited, serialised in The Sun.
